Today we hiked up Clingman’s Dome, the highest peak East of the Mississippi at 6667 feet. We had nice weather again and as we got into higher elevations we entered a Spruce-fir forest, which was a nice change and provided lots of shade. At the top of Clingman’s Dome is a parking lot and an observation tower with a paved path up to the top. We stopped to eat with some other thru-hikers and some visitors took our picture. We are camped just under 6,000 feet and it is a little cooler than last night, but still fairly warm. We have a short day of hiking tomorrow and a day off in town. Looking forward to real food tomorrow! We hiked 13.5 miles, and we passed the 200 mile mark today.
