Day 129: Vermont

This morning we woke up and walked 2.5 miles into Vermont at the southern terminus of the Long Trail. The LT spans Vermont 270+ miles up to the Canadian border, and the AT will follow the LT north about a hundred miles from here. The Long Trail is the nation’s first long distance trail and was the inspiration for the Appalachian Trail. The scenery continues to improve as we head North, and the road crossings are becoming less frequent. We hiked 19.4 miles total, and it’s supposed to rain tomorrow.
