The great thing about hiking as a couple is sharing the weight. We carried one tent, one stove, one cookpot (plus one bowl), one water filter, one bear line, one power pack, one guidebook, one trowel, etc. This allowed us to keep our total pack weights under 30 lbs while still allowing for a few extra luxury items. Throughout most of the hike, Megan’s pack was 20-25 lbs, while Paul’s pack was typically 23-27 lbs. We both plan to drop a bit more weight for the PCT.
