It was raining and windy all night so we were all pretty happy to be cozy in the shelter. In the morning we hiked uphill until we reached the border.
Then we walked uphill some more. It was windy and cold all day. We planned to hike 12 miles to d another shelter, but a mile before we got there we came to a gap where about 7 trucks were setting up to do trail magic for the weekend. A bunch of families camp out and cook tons of food every year. We decided to camp here and have hot breakfast in the morning. Tomorrow is even colder, but only an 8 Mile day.
Now THAT is an E-Z Up!
I don’t think there was anything easy about it, but it was nice shelter from the wind.
It’s so great that y’all are still smiling & making the most of this adventure ! Been very windy & cold here ; hopefully it will move out by the time you get to Smoky Mtns. Continue to stay warm & be safe . We love you , mom ♡
Meggy and Paul: congratulations on reaching NC! One state down 6 to go! Looking for the trail names…
