Today was another warm one, and we continued along the border. Visibility was really good today, and our first big climb of the day was up a mountain called Rocky Top. Not being from the South, I was not familiar with the song, but I sure am now. Another hiker had it on his phone and we listened to it at the summit, even though this particular Rocky Top is not the one referenced in the song. Perhaps it was named after the song.
It wasn’t the highest point of the day, but the best view. We could see for miles in 360 degrees. A lot of hikers ate lunch at the top. Tomorrow we hit Clingman’s Dome, the highest spot on the AT, and will also pass the 200 mile mark. We did 12 miles today.
