Today we hiked up Clingman’s Dome, the highest peak East of the Mississippi at 6667 feet. We had nice weather again and as we got into higher elevations we entered a Spruce-fir forest, which was a nice change and provided lots of shade. At the top of Clingman’s Dome is a parking lot and an observation tower with a paved path up to the top.

We stopped to eat with some other thru-hikers and some visitors took our picture. We are camped just under 6,000 feet and it is a little cooler than last night, but still fairly warm. We have a short day of hiking tomorrow and a day off in town. Looking forward to real food tomorrow! We hiked 13.5 miles, and we passed the 200 mile mark today.

Oh my, it must be nice to see the flowers of spring. How are the knees and feet
