After three days of sun and views in the Smokies, we got back on trail in the rain and fog today. We met a back country ranger who said we were pretty lucky for such nice weather the past few days, because usually in spring it’s cold and wet with no views. It was slow going today so we only did about 10.5 miles. It’s supposed to clear up sometime tomorrow, we’ll see. For now, there is a fireplace inside the shelter with a nice fire going while there is rain and thunder outside. My shoes might even dry out tonight.
