It rained all night and into the morning, so had to put some soggy clothes back on in the morning. I had dry socks but my shoes were still wet and it was still raining so my feet were wet soon enough. We hiked in the mud for a few hours.
Eventually the rain stopped and we came to Woody Gap, where a hippie bus was giving out soup and tea. Here is their crazy bus that sleeps 17.
Finally the sun came out, we actually got some views and dried out some. We had an 8.5 mile day and stopped at a campsite with several people we’ve been seeing the past few days. We had a campfire, which attracted other hikers and we all Sat around the fire so glad we were away from the madness of the shelter the night before. Another 8 mile day tomorrow, going just past Neel Gap, out first resupply. Picture s:
My comments are still not posting! But I’ll keep trying. I wanted to know a little more about the shelter. Are you supposed to stay in them because they are designated sites? Or are you able to camp up ahead or a little behind large groups?
That hippie van is KILLER!
Love Paul’s selfie. Hope you guys get some dry days soon.
Love you
Never mind… I’m just impatient! I saw your answer on the previous post, so now I know.
Loving the updates.
I can’t imagine putting on wet shoes🙁 Glad the sun came out. That fire must have been awesome! Love, Mom
I LOVED the hippie van!
Paul and Megan:
There will be good days and there will be bad days.
I would chalk these up as “good weather appreciation days.”
Trudge on.
Dad
Goodness , that hippie van is awesome ! You both are such troopers & many people are rooting for you . I honestly cannot even imagine knowing that wet shoes were a must , ugh ! Be safe & have fun . Love from your TN parents ♡
Hi from Whidbey Island!! So glad you are on your way; I’ve been thinking about you and your adventures and your mom just sent me the blog site …. All I can say is if that is a hippy van, today’s hippies are far more advanced and wealthy than we were!!!! Looking forward to your daily recounts.
Apparently they are a religious group, they run a bunch of hostels and delis and their members turn ask their money over to the group. They were nice though and we got free soup.
