It rained in the night, which is good for the fire situation, but the trail is still expected to be closed until next week. The outfitter in Hot Springs was running shuttles to the next Gap but everything was full. Fortunately in this town there is no shortage of trail angels, and we got a ride this morning back to the trail, 14.4 miles ahead. We had some pretty cool hiking today, and some pretty tough segments too, with some crazy humidity. We hiked 11.6 miles today and crossed the 300 Mile marker. However, with the closed segment we had to bypass, and including the approach trail, we are actually about 6 miles shy of hiking 300 miles, so we will pass that milestone tomorrow. We have a 15 Mile day planned.
300 miles!!!!!!! Yay
Megan: not to go ” all Dad” on you, but please research the forests and other areas known for ticks and take all the precautions…long sleeves, long pants, everything cinched up. Oh by the way congrats on the 300 milestone.
Don’t even ask me how many ticks I’ve seen. Deet every day but still have to be vigilant.
What Marc said , lol. Love you guys & so proud of you ♡

I have internet but no phone, so I can’t send texts (stupid cricket) but I wanted to say yes we are headed for trail days, and should get to Damascus by Thursday.
