It was cold this morning, so we were slow getting out of camp. It was 9:45 before we started hiking! Today we went over Roan Mountain, a five mile uphill climb. Paul foraged ramps most of the way. Fortunately we hit a bit of trail magic right before the uphill started! At the top was the highest shelter on the trail at 6193 feet in elevation. Since it’s supposed to be very cold up there tonight we decided to keep going to get to lower ground. We came down off the peak and into the Roan Highlands, awesome hiking with amazing views. We hiked 17.7 miles today and are camped in a pretty cool tent site. Not a bad Anniversary!
I am sure Paul was thrilled with his ramp foraging ! His nerdy chef side must have come out!
Happy Anniversary (few days late)!!! Love you guys.
