Today we hiked 16.4 miles to a campsite just outside of Damascus where we met our friend Amy, who recently moved to North Carolina. She brought us all kind of goodies: wine, cheese, baguette and salami, and apples! We made a campfire and toasted the baguettes with the cheese, it was delicious. We are now in Virginia, and we’ll be here awhile. A quarter of the trail is in this state, and we’ll be over a thousand miles before we leave. Trail days is this weekend in Damascus so we will have a few days off and will hopefully get a new tent.
You two look great! The trail is being kind to you. I just googled Damascus Trail Days. It appears to be quite a party!! Did you plan your travels to be there, are is it just trail serendipity that you are there at this time?
It mostly worked out that way but for the last week or so we’ve been keeping pace to get here so that big Agnes will repair our tent for free
So cool that Amy came out! Ofcourse she brought wine and cheese! Enjoy your time off
