Day 49: Mt Rogers

It rained in the night last night and all morning. We were pretty lazy and tried to wait for it to let up, but it never did so we finally broke camp and got on the trail around 11. Eventually the rain stopped but the sun never came out, so we never got to fully dry out our gear. We went 14.1 miles today over Mt Rogers, the highest peak in Virginia, skirting the summit and camping just beyond it. It’s raining again now but hopefully we’ll get some sun tomorrow. At least the rain has been warm rain, and this is our last night above 5,000 feet until we are out of Virginia so we should be done with potential freezing weather through the summer. We saw lots of cows today, tomorrow should be ponies!
