Day 51: Getting back into the groove

It was so nice to wake up with everything dry and not have to pack up a wet tent this morning. The sun never really came out today, but aside from some light mist it didn’t really rain either. We made pretty good time and hiked 16.8 miles before stopping. It’s nice to finally have some flat sections during the day, not just steep ups and downs all the time. Tomorrow we will go into Marion to resupply and eat town food!

  1. Megan and Paul: You guys ROCK!! 500 miles how awesome. I take it Paul’s feet are better and did he get another new pair of shoes in Damascus?

  2. Guys: Your trail will pass (it’s right along the Skyline Drive isn’t it?) right through the area of Virginia that I lived for the summer of my 14th year. Between Simmons Gap and South River Falls (I believe it is) you will cross HWY 33. Look right. Down that road a few miles is where I lived. Back then it was very, remote and back woodsy. I think it’s more like a suburb of Charlottesville now. Take a picture at the HWY for me.

  3. You guys, I’ve been keeping up with your Instagram posts, but I finally just binge-read your entire journey with more fervor than a teenager binging on Netflix! Haha, so I’m finally up to speed and cannot wait for the next “episode.” WHAT A JOURNEY! You two are awesome! Happy (belated) anniversary and congrats on 500 miles! Keep on keeping on!
