Day 73: A Magical Day

Yesterday we had a somewhat stressful time getting resupplied. TheĀ  laundromat was out of soap, the shuttle around town was hard to locate, and when we finally got to the grocery store at about 5 the shuttle driver informed us the least shuttle would be in 20 minutes. He returned early and didn’t wait either. Fortunately we were approached by a local who offered us a ride back to the motel and also back to there trail in the morning. ( And a place to stay but we were already at the motel by that point). In the morning he brought his dog, picked us up, and hiked with us for 5 miles. He told us stories of his climbing adventures in Patagonia, The Yukon, Chamonix, Wyoming, and more. It was a great start to the day. In the evening about 4 miles before the shelter we hit some more magic: former thru hikers set up camp with beer, chips, soda and goodies. They even had cornhole set up. We decided to cook dinner while we were there and they also shared some chicken from the BBQ. So here we camped! We had a really fun time. Our double trail magic was some of the best magic we’ve had yet.
