Days 110-111: Summer Heat

Yesterday was one of those days that didn’t stand out much. We hiked 15 miles, stopping for lunch at a tavern. A friend’s Mom brought us some trail magic of pizza and sodas. Other than that it was hot and humid. Today was even warmer and more humid, broken up by an afternoon downpour. Fortunately we had stopped for a sandwich and resupply so we stayed dry under cover until it passed. Today we walked 17 miles. It’s raining again but we’re still dry inside the tent, and it’s only supposed to last a couple hours. This was a day of many birds: Great Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Killdeers, Red Winged Blackbirds, and Gray Catbirds.

  1. The monument looks like the WWII memorial set at the corners of Penn, NJ and NY. Looks like you were just SW of NYC. I fly over it when I go to the NYC area.
