The shelter we stayed at last night actually has a caretaker who lives nearby, and this morning he told me about a swimming hole about six miles up the trail. It’s still hot and humid out, and we were there by 11, so we stayed and enjoyed the cold water for a couple hours. We continued on through a rocky day with few water sources, to camp after about 15 miles. An old friend caught up to us today which was exciting. We passed mile 1200 as well. Tomorrow we are going into town to resupply. Hamburg doesn’t have much, but they do have the largest Cabela’s in the world so that must count for something!
