Day 148: Mount Cube

The great weather has continued today, and we got some great views. The first half of the day we climbed 2400 feet up Smarts Mountain. There was a fire tower at the summit, and we enjoyed the views and ate lunch before heading down that mountain and up the next one: Mount Cube. This one was only a 1500 foot climb but still a steep one. We are cowboy camping at the summit, with great views of the sunset and the surrounding mountains, and looking forward to sunrise as well. We’re feeling pretty good after our rest days, and taking it slower especially as the elevation changes start to increase.
