We shared the summit last night with 2 stray Great Danes, who seemed to be running up and down the trail. They turned out to be lost, there was a sign a few miles north, so we eventually got in touch with the owners to let them know their dogs are OK and where we saw them. Today we officially entered the White Mountains, but our first real mountain will be tomorrow. The trail is rugged, our feet are tired but my knee has improved a little. It was cloudy today, and we’ll probably have some rain tomorrow for our first 4,000+ foot peak since Virginia. Fortunately we only have an 8 mile day planned. The scenery has been awesome, tonight we are stealth camping near a brook with small waterfalls.
cute story about the dogs!
