Today we started the day with a 2,000 foot climb up Kinsman Mountain, which has 2 peaks, both over 4,000 feet in elevation. The climb up was the most technical section we have experienced on the trail so far, and the route down was similar. We dropped back down to 1,400 feet elevation only to climb up Mt Liberty, also over 4,000 feet elevation. We’re skirting the summit, and are stealth camped about 0.3 miles from the top. We are sheltered from the wind, but we may get rain tonight. Tomorrow morning we follow the Franconia Ridge, and will have several miles of trail above the treeline as we go over Mt Lincoln, our first 5,000 footer in the North.
