Day 161: The Steepest Uphill

We went over two big mountains today, not crazy high but still very steep. The uphills are spent climbing up rock walls and exposed tree roots. The downhills are spent swinging down tree trunks, scooching down steep rock faces, climbing down rock staircases or perhaps the occasional ladder. After 12 miles, my body feels like it has gone over 20. I get some consolation from the fact that every other hiker on the trail feels the same. We also got some beautiful views into Maine today.
