Day 178: Whitecap Mountain

It started to rain in the night, first just a soft sprinkle but as morning neared it got harder. We got out early as we had a river to ford, and were walking in the old growth forest by 6:30. We crossed over 4 mountains, the last called Whitecap. This was supposed to be our first view to Katahdin, but with the weather we saw nothing. The terrain eased up after the last mountain, and the day was cold so we hiked pretty fast most of the day. We did over 24 miles today. Just 60 miles until we run out of trail. Spirits are good, much better than the last 2 days.
