It was cold last night, and we really slept in this morning. We didn’t start hiking until after 8:00. We spent the morning navigating through the snow, so the going was slow. By 2:00 we had only gone 8 miles. Sometime this morning we passed our 800 mile marker, though we didn’t notice until later. Fortunately, as we dropped in elevation and descended along some South facing ridges, we finally hit some solid ground. It was so great to be able to just hike on a trail and not have to constantly be checking to make sure we’re still headed in the right direction. We made much better time in the afternoon and stopped to camp after 17 miles. Tomorrow should be mostly snow free as well, so we’ll be getting up early to do better miles. After a week off, we need to get our trail legs back!
