Today was an AT kind of day. We woke up in the forest and hiked through the trees down toward the highway to Sierra City. The trail was free of snow and we made it 11 miles to the road by about 10:45. The rest of the day was a slow and steady climb uphill. The trail was exposed, giving us great views on the way. When we reached 7,000 feet we hit some snow, which slowed us down a little for the last 2 miles. Fortunately, there is still less of it than even a couple days ago, and we hope there should only be a few miles to deal with tomorrow. We walked 25 miles today, passing trail mile 1200 and camping near a lake. We’re being loudly serenaded by the frogs tonight.
