As we move North away from one fire, we move closer to the next one. Fortunately we have no closures on the PCT, but some side trails and camping areas are. Visibility was poor, especially in the afternoon.
Once we descended from the Timberline Trail, we started back uphill. As Paul put it, we spent all day going uphill today just to spend all day going downhill tomorrow, when we drop into the Columbia River gorge. It was a 25.8 mile day today, leaving only 19 miles left in Oregon.
