We got up early to head 4.4 miles to Steven’s Pass, a ski resort on the PCT where it crosses Highway 2. We arrived early to find nothing was open yet, so we had to wait around to pick up our packages of food and shoes. In the meantime the coffee shop was open so we had some coffee and charged our phones. We quickly got a ride to Skykomish, 14 miles down the highway where we were staying for the evening. It’s a tiny town with a post office, library, hotel, bar, deli and gas station. All are located within about a quarter mile radius, so it’s a convenient hiker town, although there is no grocery store. Train tracks run right through the middle of town, and trains run through at all hours of the night. We enjoyed some town food, showers, television, and beds.
