Washington has been a little lonely. We’ve seen plenty of day hikers and section hikers, but not very many thru hikers. We haven’t seen a lot of our friends since Bend, but we knew we were close behind a few friends. They took a day off at Steven’s Pass as well, though not in Skykomish, so they got back on the trail this morning shortly before we did. We caught them halfway through the day and hiked on and off together the rest of the day before all camping at a lake and enjoying some swimming. We caught up and discovered everyone has had a similar experience, with few familiar faces, so we were good to have a crowded camp of friends for a change. We hiked 18 miles today.
