We both feel pretty good today after out long day yesterday, so we decided to get going early today and try for a 30. The first half of the day was climbing, the second half was descending.
The hike today started among giant cedar trees. Old growth forests and their ancient trees are always amazing to walk through. As we climbed up high we started to get more views as the trees thinned out and the terrain became rocky. We reached the top of the climb shortly after noon and hiked for a few more miles before stopping for a late lunch. For the rest of the day we went downhill as we descended toward Stehekin and Lake Chelan. We made our 30 miles before 7, and stopped to camp just over 4 miles before town tomorrow. Despite the big climb today, we’re feeling less sore than yesterday.
