It was just 4.4 miles today to the High Bridge Ranger Station in North Cascades National Park. From there, we caught a shuttle down to Stehekin. The town is situated on Lake Chelan, Washington’s largest natural lake and one of few pristine lakes in the country. There are no roads connecting Stehekin to the outside world, so visitors arrive by ferry or float plane or on foot from the PCT. The lake is a National Recreation Area and there were plenty of visitors in town. There is a free campground for PCT hikers, plus a laundry and shower facility and an amazing bakery just out of town. Everything a hiker needs, plus some beer and swimming in the lake!
