Our day today started with a 2,500 foot climb over Benson Pass, just over 10,100 feet in elevation. We dropped 1,700 feet then climbed another 1,000, all before lunch. Fortunately, the hard climbs are still rewarding. We had awesome scenery all day. In the afternoon the terrain was easier, but the wind was cold and clouds were moving in. We decided to set up camp a little early in case of precipitation and also just to beat the cold. We found some decently sheltered spots among the trees to set up camp. It was a 21.7 mile day today.
