Day 8: 6 Miles
We both slept well for our last night on the trail, and took the time for some hot coffee while we enjoyed the sunrise over Aloha Lake. As we left the Desolation Wilderness and got to Echo Lake, the trail passed many houses along the lake and we saw several people out day hiking and backpacking.
We met another TRT hiker who was low on food so we gave him some snacks and chatted about hiking for awhile. We also met some PCT trail angels out for a short hike and we talked with them awhile too. Even with our slow pace, we were still back at the car in the morning. We made our way back to South Lake Tahoe for some hot food and showers. Modern luxuries are always sweet after a week in the mountains.
