It was a sunny but chilly morning, perfect climbing weather. The mountain views get better every day. We knew there was a grocery store and cafe in 20mi/32km, so we were riding in hopes of a hot lunch. We arrived to find the grocery store sparsely stocked and the cafe not open. A similar disappointment happened to us yesterday.

One thing I have learned in this trip is that EV chargers are often wifi hotspots, so I was able to get online and see that there was a lodge in 10 miles. We figured we could put lunch off in hopes of this place being open. Along the way we saw some Ruffed Grouse, a new one for this journey.Â

We arrived at Tatogga Lake Resort to find the kitchen open, free wifi, and lots of baked goods. We ate a huge lunch, charged some electronics, and refilled our water bottles. We contemplated getting a room for the night, despite feeling guilty for doing so many shorter days lately. We want to shower, but we want to get to Stewart before the weekend. They were fully booked anyway, so the decision was easy.

As we got ready to leave, we met two cyclists who are riding to Argentina and talked to them about bikes and the journey so far. It started to rain as we talked. We thought about camping at the lodge with our new friends, but ultimately we decided to push on another 15mi/24km to Kinaskin Lake campground.

It rained while we rode, but a light rain – somewhere between a sprinkle and a drizzle. The campground is very nice, but it was expensive. At $40CAD, it’s twice the cost of the campgrounds in the Yukon. No free firewood or covered kitchen areas either. But, we have an awesome spot right on the lake, bear lockers, and well kept facilities. Sunset tonight is 9:02pm. Last night after 9!
