It was a late night last night. The ferry landed around 1am, and from there we still had to find a place to sleep. We used ioverlander to find a pullout with space to camp as close to the ferry as possible. It was about 2mi/3km, so not far. It took awhile to disembark from the boat, so it was probably 230am before we got into bed. Needless to say, we slept in a little this morning. Don’t worry though, it was still foggy as always.
Truthfully, the weather has been nice both yesterday and today. We had a short ride on the highway but most of the day was on dirt roads, some rougher than others.
We saw the world’s second largest burl, several deer, a black bear, bald eagles, common ravens, and I even saw some turkey vultures, which I haven’t seen in quite awhile. We’re back in blackberry country, and they are starting to get ripe, so I ate a handful.
We had some steep climbs today too. We got a little spoiled the past few sections with paved roads and gentle climbs. My knees are feeling the tougher terrain today.
We came to a free campground right on a lake tonight. It’s very nice here for a free campground, and remote enough to not completely fill up on a Saturday. A float plane landed on the lake and pulled in to camp, which was cool to watch.
