Today was our longest day yet at 15.5 miles. The first half of the day was mostly uphill, to another fire tower with awesome views. We could see Fontana dam, which we will come to in a few days, and our first glimpse of the Smoky Mountains. The last 5 miles of the day was mostly downhill, but very steep and full of roots and rocks, so we were very tired by the time we got to camp. We are camping one mile from the Nantahala Outdoor Center, where we will resupply and have hot breakfast!
Yay for the hot breakfast! Hang in there!
