Today was a long steady uphill under exposed sun and few water sources. The day was long and a little monotonous until about Mile 18, when we arrived at Mike’s place. A trail angel lives just off the trail and provides water and sodas to hikers. We stayed for several hours in the heat of the day, enjoying sodas and cooking dinner. Just before sunset we headed out with two other hikers. The for of us hiked until dark, about 5 more miles out and halfway to the next water source. Tomorrow will be warm as well so we plan to hike early.
So what are the differences? Hiking greater distance each day. Lower elevations. Sleeping better? How’s the equipment holding up? What culinary ideas does Paul discover on this hike? What do you wish you had sent yourselves? Wildlife spotting?
I answered all these in the Idyllwild post!
