We all had some fun last night at the casino, mostly playing circus/arcade games at Circus Circus, where we stayed for 2 nights in Reno. Today we slept in, and got breakfast and lunch in town before we got a ride to the trailhead near Truckee at mile 1157. We got on trail near Donner Pass, and for the most part the area is still fairly covered in snow. However, the terrain was fairly gentle and there was a decent amount of hard ground to walk on, so we made decent progress. In the evening we even hit dirt trail that was snow free for over a mile! We felt so spoiled. We put in ten miles before making camp near a stream on a patch of dry ground. We are looking forward to hiking for a full day tomorrow.
