Day 61: Independence Day in Chester

Today we had 19 miles to walk to town. While the last few miles were mostly downhill, there were a lot of ups and downs for most of the route. It was a warm day and it is definitely more humid up here. We made it into Chester by early afternoon. The Lutheran Church in town allows hikers to camp in their backyard. They set up a porta-potty, charging station, hiker box, and a shaded area with chairs. At the laundromat across the street we were able to pay for a shower while we did laundry. After eating out and grocery shopping, it was getting late. We spent the evening on the balcony behind the church with other hikers, eating ice cream and enjoying the holiday.
