Leaving town always makes for a slower day. Our packs are loaded down with food, a later start means hiking in the heat of the day, and heading out if town almost always means going uphill. At least we got some good coffee to start the morning, and this climb from town was less steep than usual.
There is a fire burning in the wilderness, so it was a hazy day, but we climbed some steep ridges with great views. We are also walking through an area that burned a few years ago, so there was plenty of exposure. We walked 18.4 miles today and are camped on a saddle with a great sunset view.
Love the picture of the tent
