Day 89: 1500 Miles

This morning was a nice slow morning as we enjoyed the lake and the solitude and a hot breakfast. We hit the trail by 7:30 and headed for our mile 1500 and then a water cache about 12 miles in. We stopped there for a long lunch, visiting with other hikers and enjoying the shade. From there the trail climbed for several miles, offering views of lakes, forests, and snow covered mountain peaks. In the afternoon we passed several large lakes and ponds before we found one to camp at. The mosquitos remain a nightmare, so we fled to the shelter of the tent immediately. Tomorrow we take a side trip to Shelter Cove, to pick up a package and charge up.

  1. Megan: I heard today that parts of the PCT in Washington are closed due to wildfires. Keep an eye on whatever media sites you use to stay in the loop on the latest developments. Still smokey here.

  2. The temps are supposed to be over 100° in parts of Oregon…please take care ? Hope water sources get closer together . Be safe .
