Tahoe Rim Trail: Day 5

Day 5: 28 Miles

It was a freezing night and a frosty morning today. Still, it was a beautiful day today. We had warm weather and lovely views all day. The trail was crowded again with bikers and day hikers, and we met a few thru-hikers as well. Most people do the trail in the opposite direction, so everyone we have met has been going the other way.

We took lots of little breaks today to enjoy the scenery, and yet we still moved faster than the past few days. As our bodies adapt to the packs and our moods improve with the weather, so does our pace. We camped just 3 miles from town so we can get a hot breakfast and resupply in the morning before we go into the Desolation Wilderness. This is a memorable section of the PCT with some stunning scenery, so we are looking forward to it.
