With only about 16 miles into Harper’s Ferry, we enjoyed a relaxing morning at camp, which really just means we took the time to make coffee after getting up just a tad later than usual. It was supposed to rain today, but it didn’t thankfully. We followed the border most of the day, until we finally crossed into West Virginia and said goodbye to Virginia at last. It’s been about 550 miles in this state, and a huge mental milestone to finally be out of it. We entered Harper’s Ferry National Historic Park and later the town itself. Home of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, this is considered the unofficial halfway point (the actual halfway point about 70 miles from here in Pennsylvania). We will zero here tomorrow, Amy is coming to meet us again and hike with us a few days into Maryland.
Cool place! Wish I could see it. How fun that Amy will be meeting you!
