What to say about today? Nothing particularly bad, but not every day is amazing. Today felt kind of boring. Straight road, traffic, and uphill sections that often were not followed by downhills. While the scenery was nice, there were not great places to stop and take a break. Even the rest stops lacked picnic tables. It was a headphones day.

Long journeys are like this. It’s not all fun all the time, and some days you’re not really feeling it. Some days are mundane, and seem to just blend into the others.

It wasn’t all bad though. We had hot breakfast this morning. We saw a black bear. We saw a flock of Canada Geese on a small river. We’re starting to see snow-capped mountains. We dipped into British Columbia, and that is where we are camped tonight.

But even finding a spot to camp was tricky. Although throughout the day there were plenty of small dirt side roads that offered places to camp, once we decided to start looking for one they seemed to vanish. Eventually, we did find a side road and found an established campsite, complete with a table space for cooking.

Tomorrow morning we’ll be back in the Yukon. Tonight was the first night we had to consider our headlamps, at least as far as remembering to bring them into the tent with us. Although we probably won’t need them, it does get dark at night now. Sunset tonight is 9:40.
