AK to AZ Day 71: Victoria

September 12

11mi/18km

272ft/83m elevation gain

It was an easy ride into Victoria this morning entirely on multi-use paths. Being a Saturday, it was busy out. Lots of bikes, people, and dogs. Lots of spandex. Some cool graffiti.

From Victoria, we had planned to take the ferry to Port Angeles,WA and continue along the Olympic Discovery Trail. But, my parents are coming to meet us, so we are not getting on the ferry from here. Instead, we are taking some days off in Vancouver and on Whidbey Island. We will catch the ferry there to the Olympic Peninsula instead.

We arrived in Victoria before lunchtime and stopped at a tiny little Japanese restaurant for some excellent donburi, then met up with my parents at the hotel in the afternoon. We all went to dinner at a German restaurant and we’re looking forward to a few days off the bikes.
